In 1902, the Japanese military discovered a hot spring in Guanziling Village and called it “Spiritual Spring”. In 1904, the Yoshida family established a hot spring hotel, which was highly popular among bathers and was considered to be effective in improving excessive fat, constipation, chronic stomach problems, uterine diseases, throat diseases, bronchitis, etc. In 1913, the hot spring public baths were expanded and became a famous tourist attraction. It has been visited by the Japanese Royal Family, officials, companies, and schools alike, and is still a must-see destination in Southern Taiwan.
