Red, yellow, orange, green and all sort of vibrant colors parade in groups onto the canvas. We seem to be able to feel the jostling of crowd on the street, as well as hearing the sound and clamor of golden drums from the chaotic lines.
Whenever Chen Cheng-po, who had been teaching in Shanghai since 1929, returned to his hometown during his summer holidays, he would always come across the City God Inspection tour held in early August every year. For him, this cultural ceremony is a representative scenery of his hometown and a creative theme that he will not miss.
