Although the old, faded photos have lost their oil colors, the scenery is still vivid and clear. The pulleys on the crane are spinning rapidly, while workers with long poles struggle against the blocks of wood in the pool. Huge piles of logs filled the entire factory, and even though the war had only just ended, the factory was in a state of prosperity.
At the beginning and end of his artist career, Chen Cheng-po had come to Chiayi’s wood mill to paint. If comparing these two pieces carefully, what different changes do you see in them?
