In the dimly colored painting, the pedestrians wearing heavy winter coats are following a straight path towards the deeper part of the picture. This path also leads our eyes beyond the shade of trees and dead branches to the building with the green dome in the distance.
For Chen Cheng-po, the grand exterior of the Hyokeikan Museum seems to have a magical power, attracting him to try on several attempts to paint the exterior of the building from different angles. What is the idea that he wants to express in this painting?
